The December 2012 FIFA Club World Cup will be held in Japan, and Santos decided to advertise their upcoming trip by having their players--including the popular Neymar--pose with their fingers pulling their eyes back.
( and here's a video with upbeat music )
Personally, as an Asian-American, I have never had this gesture done to me as a sign of "affection" or "respect" as many comments on The Dirty Tackle and the YouTube link suggest :/ I realize US culture is different from Brazilian culture, but this just does not sit well with me.

Sepp Blatter will make way for a successor as FIFA president in four years' time if he is re-elected in June, he has announced.

Blatter is seeking a fourth term as FIFA president and is being challenged by Asian confederation chief Mohamed Bin Hammam.
The 75-year-old told UEFA's Congress in Paris on Tuesday that if he wins he will definitely stand down in 2015, saying: "You know very well that I am a candidate for the next four years as FIFA president but these will be the last four years for which I stand as a candidate."
He added: "Together we have the task of bringing together the adventure we have started.
"We want to ensure a better future for our youth."
The new president will be elected at a Fifa Congress which starts on 31 May.
With Bin Hammam vowing to increase Fifa's decision-making power and spread its considerable wealth, Blatter is facing his first challenge since Issa Hayatou took him on - and lost - in 2002.
Bin Hammam is also currently attending the Congress for European football's governing body, Uefa, as they lobby federation presidents for their vote on 1 June in Zurich.
Uefa members make up more than one quarter of the maximum 208 Fifa voters that Blatter and Bin Hammam will attempt to woo.
The winner needs a two-thirds majority of valid votes cast in the first ballot, or a majority in the second.
Fifa has set an 1 April deadline for other candidates to be nominated by a single member federation.
"We are in extra time," said Blatter, referring to the time left before the election. "Let's wait and see what the outcome will be."

O Fabuloso returns to São Paulo
Mar. 12th, 2011 01:50 am![[identity profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/openid.png)

People knew that it was coming but no one knew exactly what or where the eventual move by Luis Fabiano was going to be. On Friday São Paulo announced that Sevilla’s fifth all-time leading scorer would be returning to the club that saw him become one of the most dominant forces in South America. São Paulo signed the Brazilian forward from Spanish side Sevilla for €7.6 millon and could be playing for O Tricolor come April.
There was lots of talk that Luis Fabiano would be heading to a team in England, Italy, or might even be heading to another team in La Liga. On Thursday there was talk in Sevilla about an important offer by the Brazilian side. In the end both would settle for the €7.6 millon price tag which São Paulo will play during the next four years.
“We have just completed a dream and gift to the São Paulo fans, “ said club president Juvenal Juvêncio. “(Luis Fabiano’s) heart is with São Paulo and his signing will give our team more quality, joy, and fighting spirit that is part of the team’s identity.”
It was well known that there was an interest by the Brazilian international to go back home in order to give him a better chance to be considered for the Copa América side this coming July. In order to be even considered he will first have to first recover from his latest injury that supposedly would keep him out of action for about six weeks.
This is the first of the big stars that Sevilla was looking to part ways with after a very disappointing season. The Nervionenses are in seventh place with 38 points and will be missing their leading scorer with ten goals. It will not be easy for them this weekend as they will host Barcelona in round 28 of La Liga.
During his time at Sevilla, Luis Fabiano won two UEFA Cups, a Spanish Super Cup, a European Super Cup, and two Copa del Rey titles.

Well that sucks for Sevilla fans. I wonder who else is gonna end up leaving from there this year? :|

Yesterday, Liedson played his first game back in Brazil.

( So, did he score? )
I know this is a useless post and will probably be ignored, but I just felt like sharing this with Liedson fans (I think there are a few here). And brazilian football deserves some love :)Haters, stay fat like Ronaldo.

Along the The Brazilian Football Confederation's history, the competitions to decide the Brazilian champion have changed. The number of championships recognized was dictated by of the number of championships won in the current title race: the Campeonato Brasileiro. However today, CBF voted to unify the championships, making Santos and Palmeiras the new record holders as eight-time champions. Sorry São Paulo and Flamengo

Santos starlet Neymar is ready to leave Brazil and test himself in Europe, revealing that of the "five big clubs" interested in him, Juventus would be his preferred destination.
Neymar, 18, was tracked by Chelsea over the summer but surprisingly signed a new contract with Santos in August amid serious interest from the Premier League champions.
The Blues were reportedly willing to pay £25 million for his services, but Santos increased the teenage striker's salary in a bid to convince him to stay.

Santos starlet Neymar admitted that he felt guilty for his part in the dismissal of former boss Dorival Junior, and revealed that he wanted to give his ex-mentor "a big hug" by way of apology.
Speaking to Globoesporte, the 18-year-old reflected on his spree of unruly behaviour around a month ago, which culminated in an ugly on-pitch confrontation with Dorival and led to the coach being fired by directors siding with their most valuable asset.
"It weighs very heavily on my conscience that Dorival has gone. For eight months he was practically my father. He cared for me, he gave me the chance to play and he gave me great joy. I liked Dorival a lot," the striker confessed, in the frankest interview to date that he has given on the unsavoury incidents that led many to question his attitude.
Neymar went on to describe the shame it brought him and his family to see such behaviour.
"I was embarrassed (after the Atletico GO game). I was ashamed of coming home and seeing my mother cry, seeing my father cry - it was very tough."
"[My mother] told me that I was not her son, that I was not the boy she had raised. She wanted the real Neymar back, she wanted Juninho back as I am called at home," the player continued.
And closing the interview Neymar had just one answer when asked what he would do if he met Dorival Junior again.
"I would give him a big hug, and that's exactly what I intend to do," the youngster concluded.
I hope he really is changing his attitude. i have high hopes for him and I'd hate to see his attitude get in the way

COPA LIBERTADORES - FINAL MATCH

X
Tonight is the last day of Libertadores, the most prestigious club competition in South American football (SA Champions League). The name of the tournament is a homage to the Libertadores (Portuguese and Spanish for Liberators), the main leaders of the independence wars of South America. The winner plays at the FIFA Club World Cup, a competition contested between the champion clubs from all six continental confederations.
So I thought I might sum it up a bit:

Neymar Close to Chelsea Deal

At the moment Neymar is impatient with reporters who asked about a proposal from Chelsea to sign him, denying that he had received an offer, his agent, Wagner Ribeiro, detailing the terms of what was offered to the family of the player for the club run by Russian Roman Abramovich. The agent has confirmed it is in America with the father of Neymar, Neymar dos Santos Silva, where, last Monday, he dined with representatives of the English club.
The agent states that in terms of projection of career and of course financial, the best alternative to Neymar is to accept the British offer.
"If Santos are only to give a raise to the Neymar it's useless. He needs projection in his career. We want him to be elected best player in the world," said in an interview with Radio Globo.
When talking about salary increases for Neymar, the agent is referring to a meeting there next Tuesday, at Vila Belmiro, between parents and the board of the player from Santos. The Alvinegro want to submit a career plan for the youngster to be able gain projection even without leaving Brazil. Ribeiro, however, does not believe in this.
"The possibility that Neymar be chosen the best in the world playing in Brazil is zero. We have the best players but we do not have a championship level. Now, who will decide everything is the boy with his family."
