Daniel Agger pays for Denmark team to go to Homeless World Cup in Chile.

The former Liverpool defender Daniel Agger has paid for Denmark to send a team to the Homeless World Cup in Chile.
Agger, who left Liverpool last month to return to his old club Brondby, covered a £2,100 shortfall in funding after being approached by organisers, allowing the squad to make the journey.
Frits Ahlstrom, of the charity Ombold, told Danish channel TV2: “I talked to him and said we still had to find 20,000 krone, and he said without hesitating: ‘I’ll give it to you.’ There is no substitute for class and Daniel has it on and off the field, as a player and as a person.”
The Homeless World Cup, which began in 2003, is held annually, and was last hosted in Poland, where Brazil were the winners.

Franck Ribéry sticks by decision to retire from international football.
Franck Ribéry has insisted he has no plans to reverse his decision to retire from international football despite pressure from the Uefa president, Michel Platini.
Last month, the Bayern Munich forward announced he had played his final game for France, having been forced to miss the World Cup with a back injury. That decision was heavily criticised by Platini, who also threatened the 31-year-old with a ban if he ignores a future call-up from Didier Deschamps.
But Ribéry believes the issue has already been resolved and is adamant he will not change his mind. “I have already said before I have retired from international duty and I will not go back on my decision,” he told the German newspaper Der Welt.
“I have discussed this with France coach Deschamps and we reached an agreement on it. I want to focus completely on Bayern Munich in the future. That’s all I want to say about the matter. I am not going to get involved in all the politics surrounding my decision.”
Platini threatened Ribéry with suspension if he sticks with his decision, stating that it was not down to the player to decided when to retire. “If Deschamps calls him up, then he has to come to the national team,’’ Platini said. “That’s written in the Fifa statutes. If he doesn’t report for duty, then he would be banned for three matches for Bayern Munich.
“It is not the player’s decision whether he represents his country, it’s the decision of the coach. Ribéry cannot simply decide for himself whether he wants to play for France or not.”

Rat-Face set for Barcelona debut against Real Madrid on 25 October.
Luis Suárez’s debut for Barcelona is likely to come on Saturday 25 October against Real Madrid at the Bernabéu.
The striker – who joined from Liverpool earlier in the summer – is serving a worldwide ban after biting Italy’s Giorgio Chiellini while playing for Uruguay at the World Cup. His four-month suspension expires on Friday 24 October.

Official: Daniel Agger to Brondby
Aug. 30th, 2014 08:09 pm![[identity profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/openid.png)

Liverpool have today confirmed that defender Daniel Agger has sealed a permanent return to his former team, Brondby.
"Liverpool have been such a big part of my life and my family's lives for so long, that leaving is extremely difficult," Agger told Liverpoolfc.com.
"The opportunity arose for me to return home to Brondby and at this stage of my career it felt like the right decision for me.
"I wouldn't leave here to go anywhere else and that has been proven by my actions in recent seasons - I have turned down many offers to move to other Premier League and European clubs.
"I would like to thank the Liverpool supporters for the incredible backing they have given me in my time here and the warmth and generosity of spirit displayed to my family.
"This has been our home and somewhere we have been very happy and settled. However, more recently I have started to feel the effects of playing regularly in a league that is as physically demanding as the Premier League is, and I would not want to stay if I did not think that I was able to meet that challenge week in, week out.
"The club itself is very special and I shall remain a supporter for the rest of my life. I regard every game I played at Anfield as a privilege."

Daniel Agger delivered a withering assessment of Liverpool’s latest wasteful Anfield performance and has warned their Champions League ambitions will evaporate with further repeats.
The Denmark defender is usually economical with his words but he did not hold back following a 0-0 draw with Swansea, a result which means Liverpool have already squandered eight points on home territory from six games this season.
‘Sometimes we looked like headless chickens running around after the ball,’ said Agger, before cryptically adding: ‘I think everyone was angry and disappointed, some more than others, but that is the way it is.’
So ONTD_FBers, do we agree with Dagger or not? Is his assessment of the season spot on or does his accuracy need a bit of work? TBH I only posted this in the hopes of fierce!Dagger spams, so feel free to include those in the comments! ;)

National team yesterday joined with the Minister for Equality, Lykke Friis, in a campaign to say no to violence against women.
28,000 Danish women are annually subjected to violence by their current or former partner. The national team shows, with the campaign "Give violence against women the red card", that they are ready reject violence against women.
On the pitch there are clear rules. How should it be in homes. Therefore the campaign that has Daniel Agger, Thomas Sorensen and Simon Kjær as front figures urges everyone to give violence against women a red card.

This is a really amazing campaign from the Danish NT and is good to see an NT trying to support such a good cause

The Liverpool defender will put up a collection of signed match-worn jerseys, boots and gloves from both current and former Reds, as well as other players within the game. Some of the items on offer include an Agger Liverpool shirt signed by the entire squad, Steven Gerrard's boots, Pepe Reina's gloves, a Brazil shirt worn by Lucas Leiva, and a replica 1986 FA Cup final jersey autographed by Kenny Dalglish. Blatter is seeking a fourth term as FIFA president and is being challenged by Asian confederation chief Mohamed Bin Hammam.
The 75-year-old told UEFA's Congress in Paris on Tuesday that if he wins he will definitely stand down in 2015, saying: "You know very well that I am a candidate for the next four years as FIFA president but these will be the last four years for which I stand as a candidate."
He added: "Together we have the task of bringing together the adventure we have started.
"We want to ensure a better future for our youth."
The new president will be elected at a Fifa Congress which starts on 31 May.
With Bin Hammam vowing to increase Fifa's decision-making power and spread its considerable wealth, Blatter is facing his first challenge since Issa Hayatou took him on - and lost - in 2002.
Bin Hammam is also currently attending the Congress for European football's governing body, Uefa, as they lobby federation presidents for their vote on 1 June in Zurich.
Uefa members make up more than one quarter of the maximum 208 Fifa voters that Blatter and Bin Hammam will attempt to woo.
The winner needs a two-thirds majority of valid votes cast in the first ballot, or a majority in the second.
Fifa has set an 1 April deadline for other candidates to be nominated by a single member federation.
"We are in extra time," said Blatter, referring to the time left before the election. "Let's wait and see what the outcome will be."

Daniel Agger could make his return from injury during Liverpool's clash with Braga on Thursday.
Agger has been absent for the Reds' previous three games after suffering from a knee problem sustained during their Europa League victory over Sparta Prague in the previous round.
Kenny Dalglish's defence, struggling somewhat with the loss of Martin Kelly and Fabio Aurelio in recent weeks, has received a much-needed boost ahead of the last 16 return leg at Anfield with news that the Dane is in contention for a place in the side.
But despite the considerable progress made during his rehabilitation, Dalglish may opt to preserve Agger for the Barclays Premier League visit to Sunderland on Sunday
Meanwhile Denmark coach Morten Olsen has expressed concerns about the centre-back's fitness levels amidst fears that he will be unavailable for the national side's European Championship qualifier with Norway next weekend.
"Right now we can only wait, but I must admit that Daniel Agger is doubtful for the international match," conceded Olsen.
"Daniel has not played for a while now with his knee injury and we do not really know whether he is ready – and in what form he will be in.
"It's frustrating for Daniel, Liverpool and certainly for the national team before the crucial match in Norway, but we must just wait and see what happens.
"I have an agreement with Liverpool’s club doctor that we should talk one day, but he is certainly not ready yet and it is extremely worrying."
Sauce
If he plays tomorrow then Liverpool will be 1000% hotter but it sucks if he can´t play for Denmark, I like watching him and actually being able to support the team he´s playing for

The Anfield defender admitted: "We were s***."
Agger's damning indictment came as he looked for reasons for ex-Reds striker Fernando Torres' wretched form before his £50million move to Chelsea.
He claimed that all of the club's players suffered during Hodgson's ill-fated reign.
Agger said: "That is a big question, isn't it? How to explain that. Look at the team - we played awful, we were s***.

Liverpool's squad flew out for their second game in Europa League Group K today without their skipper – who has been rested – and defender Daniel Agger.
However, the good news for Reds fans centred around Torres, who was part of a strong travelling party which includes Jamie Carragher, Joe Cole, Raul Meireles, Pepe Reina and Dirk Kuyt.
This is only the fifth time in the past 12 months that Torres has been involved in a European away trip and the first since the Europa League quarter-final with Benfica in April. (WHAT?!)

TORRES, WE NEED YOU TO DO THIS TOMORROW! Anywho, this is good and bad news. Thank GOD most of our starters are making this trip - shows that maybe Roy and company are starting to take the Europa League seriously. Also, we see that Reina's a class act, always good to see. But Agger's injured and Gerrard isn't going? Oyyyy.

Hey, so I've been a bit of a lurker on this community for a while, but I love it and since I just got back from Liverpool and saw the opening game--my first game ever, since I live a bit far from there--I wanted to make my first post because. Because. The game was incredible (even though sexy Cesc wasn't there) and the Anfield atmosphere was beyond amazing. The best. But unbelievably...
On the way there, we flew into London and then connected on a one-hour flight to Manchester. Which seemed really lame and tiresome. BUT. Martin Skrtel was on our flight! We sat in the second to last row and he sat right behind us with his girlfriend and some other guy... they spoke only in Slovakian. My brother tried to talk to him and failed...but we got a picture in the end. And match pictures!
