Four days after announcing the names of the candidates for the FIFA Women’s World Player of the Year and the FIFA World Coach of the Year for Women’s Football for 2014 awards, FIFA and France Football have today revealed the names for the men’s awards.
The candidates for the FIFA Ballon d’Or and for the FIFA World Coach of the Year for Men’s Football awards have been unveiled (see below). The final decisions will be made by the captains and head coaches of the men’s national teams as well as by international media representatives selected by France Football.
The winners of all of the awards will be revealed at the FIFA Ballon d’Or as part of a televised show at the Zurich Kongresshaus on 12 January 2015, during which the FIFA FIFPro World XI, the FIFA Puskás Award – for the most beautiful goal of the year – the FIFA Presidential Award and the FIFA Fair Play Award will also be presented.
The list of 23 male candidates has been drawn up by football experts from the FIFA Football Committee and by a group of experts from France Football. The list of ten coaches has been drawn up by the Committee for Women’s Football and FIFA Women’s World Cup™ and by the FIFA Football Committee, as well as by a group of experts from France Football.
On 1 December, FIFA and France Football will announce in a live show the names of the three women and three men, as well as the three coaches for women’s football and three coaches for men’s football, who have received the most votes (without unveiling the winners). The three nominees for the FIFA Puskás Award and the FIFA FIFPro World XI shortlist for the best forwards (15), midfielders (15), defenders (20) and goalkeepers (5) will be unveiled in the end of November and the beginning of December.

Andrés Iniesta wins Golden Foot 2014
Andres Iniesta was named as the best over-28 football player for 2014 when he won the Golden Foot award on Monday evening.
The iconic Barcelona star is the first player from his club ever to win (OP: and the first Spanish player) the lucrative gong, which has previously been won by some of football's biggest names.

Iniesta stood on stage in Monaco and planted his feet into a pool of gold to create a mould, which will be placed in the 'Champions promenade' along Monaco's seafront.
After attending the lucrative ball with his girlfriend Anna Ortiz, the 30-year-old tweeted a thank you message for the people who voted for him.
The Golden Foot award is voted for via an online poll but can only be won once in a players' career. Previous winners of the award include Ryan Giggs and Didier Drogba.
A panel of journalists select the ten nominees every year, based on achievements on and off the football pitch.
Wayne Rooney, Cristiano Ronaldo and Yaya Toure were just some of the other names nominated for the award this year, but due to their age will have other chances to win the coveted prize.
( Previous Golden Foot winners + Gerrard's video message to Suarez ... )
Who do you think should win the Golden Foot (over-28) next?

So, you're in Washington DC for a training camp and final friendly before you head out to Brazil to defend your World Cup crown ... you get some time off.
Do you...
a)( Do some sightseeing around the city? )
b)( Take your kid to the zoo? )
c)( Go out for a stroll (in occasionally questionable fashion, I´m looking at you Sernando)? )
or
d)Go shopping for lingerie in Victoria's Secret?
( No, seriously ... )CAMPEONES CAMPEONES OE OE OE!!!

So RTVE are currently keeping us updated with the NT's movements in preparation for the celebrations later this evening which in general is:
"The agenda of the day for the Spanish team. At 15:00CEST they will arrive at Barajas Airport, at 17:00CEST they will be received by King Juan Carlos at the Zarzuela Palace . Later, from 18:00CEST, in an open-top bus, the players will make their particular parade the streets of Madrid, until 20:30CEST to arrive at the Plaza de Cibeles ."
So I declare this the party/celebration post and while we wait for the celebrations to begin, feel free to post pics/celebration pics etc
Also, what do you think Pepe's player introductions will be this year? Can he improve on Euro '08 and WC '10?

Greetings, ontd_fb. I've lurked this comm on and off since the world cup two years ago, today I finally have something to contribute.

If there's anything people would like to use/repost, take whatever, no crediting necessary; but it'd be nice if you leave a comment and let me know where it's going. Cheers.
Edit: I know if I was crazy enough I could have tried stalking/paparazzi stuff, but I did the whole ambushing Liverpool players outside Melwood thing last month and didn't like it much (was great to have the chance to say encouraging things to the players but camera in their face without permission didn't feel nice at all).

When the producers of soon to be released animated film The Pirates! needed a voice actor to dub the Albino Pirate character into Spanish, the only logical choice was Barcelona midfielder Andres Iniesta. Sure, he's not a voice actor, but the character's name is Albino. It had to be Iniesta.
In the behind the scenes video above, we see Iniesta at work, voicing the character played by Russell Tovey in the original English. Andres apparently though that voicing the third act of the film was "harder than playing football." Then again, he had to do this without Leo Messi.
Forget the cartoon, watching Andres say his lines while making those hand gestures for an hour and a half is all the entertainment anyone could need.

Fernando went to his hometown of Fuenlabrada to be awarded the Medalla de la Ciudad de Fuenlabrada for winning the WC and also went to visit a sports centre that is being built and will be named after him.
( Video under the cut )
Andres Iniesta and David Villa were at the wax museum in Madrid to unveil the new waxworks of themselves that are going on display
( Double trouble )
And most of the players - Sergio, Iker, Pepe, Capdevilla, Arbeloa, Llorente, Marchena, Javi, Xabi, Mata, Silva and Villa - and VDB were at the Chocrón jewelers to recieve their watches that they were promised for winning the WC - they helped choose the design and each one is personalized with an engraving of their name and the date of the WC
Later on this morning the players all headed to La Rozas to meet up with the other late arrivals and to

Sepp Blatter will make way for a successor as FIFA president in four years' time if he is re-elected in June, he has announced.

Blatter is seeking a fourth term as FIFA president and is being challenged by Asian confederation chief Mohamed Bin Hammam.
The 75-year-old told UEFA's Congress in Paris on Tuesday that if he wins he will definitely stand down in 2015, saying: "You know very well that I am a candidate for the next four years as FIFA president but these will be the last four years for which I stand as a candidate."
He added: "Together we have the task of bringing together the adventure we have started.
"We want to ensure a better future for our youth."
The new president will be elected at a Fifa Congress which starts on 31 May.
With Bin Hammam vowing to increase Fifa's decision-making power and spread its considerable wealth, Blatter is facing his first challenge since Issa Hayatou took him on - and lost - in 2002.
Bin Hammam is also currently attending the Congress for European football's governing body, Uefa, as they lobby federation presidents for their vote on 1 June in Zurich.
Uefa members make up more than one quarter of the maximum 208 Fifa voters that Blatter and Bin Hammam will attempt to woo.
The winner needs a two-thirds majority of valid votes cast in the first ballot, or a majority in the second.
Fifa has set an 1 April deadline for other candidates to be nominated by a single member federation.
"We are in extra time," said Blatter, referring to the time left before the election. "Let's wait and see what the outcome will be."

The Spanish National football team will not be received by Pope Benedict XVI on Monday after suspending the hearing due to many commitment that the members of the national team have with their respective teams.
The players of Barcelona and Valencia have an appointment with the Champions League next week, Chelsea Fernando Torres plays that day against Fulham and Athletic on Monday will travel to Mallorca to be measured at the vermilion.
Thus, it was thought best to postpone this important event so that all the world champions can be received by His Holiness

I guess San Iker will have to hold off in officially becoming a Saint
I'm sure the Emperor though will seek him revenge somehow.
