Arsenal are at the top of the league at the moment and what better way to celebrate than supporting a good cause?

The Gunner WAGs have banded together to raise money and awareness of an important cause and of course they have got their fellas on board.

On Sunday Dec. 5, the "ABC for SOS ball" took place at Claridge's Hotel in London, England for SOS, the world's largest orphan charity. The aim of the event was to raise money for SOS Children’s orphanages in Zambia.

MARADONA COULD BECOME IRAN'S COACH

TEHERÁN -- President of Iran, Mahmud Ahmadineyad, wishes that the argentinean footballer Diego Armando Maradona becomes the next coach of his country's National Team, as informed by local newspaper Ebtekar.

The paper writes that the President nodded his head when a group of journalists asked him about the rumours that the player would visit Iran and take over the NT.

These rumous started on October 6th, when the president of the Football Federation of Iran, Alí Kafashián, revealed that they were getting ready for Maradona's visit.

The story behind his visit to Iran starts in 2007, when the player sent an autographed Argentina shirt as a gift to the president.

"I've already met Fidel (Castro, president of Cuba) and (Hugo) Chávez (president of Venezuela), so now I want to meet Iran's president. I'd like to meet Ahmadineyad personally," Maradona said a couple of years ago.

Months later, the president of Iran sent a letter to him in which he thanked the "kidness of his excellency towards the well-directed and revolutionary nation of Iran."

Iran and Argentina, however, don't hold a good relation after Buenos Aires accused several high ranked Iranians of being the intelectual responsibles of the bomb that killed dozens of people in the jewish center (AMIA) in Buenos Aires in 1994.

Newcastle United have sacked Chris Hughton as their manager, the club has confirmed this afternoon.

Speculation regarding Hughton's future has been rife since the start of the season after the club's owner, Mike Ashley, had consistently refused to offer the former Republic of Ireland full-back a contract despite him having led Newcastle to last season's Championship title.

The team also currently sits 11th in the Premier League having been relegated from the division under Alan Shearer in May 2009. Hughton took over from the former club captain and slowly became a popular figure among the players and supporters at St James' Park.

"Newcastle United Football Club have today parted company with manager Chris Hughton. Goalkeeping coach Paul Barron also leaves the club today," read a statement on the club's website. "The board would like to place on record their thanks to Chris for his considerable efforts during the club's transition from Championship to Premier League football. Chris has shown exceptional character and commitment since being appointed manager in October 2009. The club wishes him well for the future.

"Regrettably the board now feels that an individual with more managerial experience is needed to take the club forward. The task of appointing a new manager now begins. An announcement will be made shortly regarding transitional arrangements pending the appointment of a successor.

Hughton's last game in charge was yesterday's 3-1 defeat at West Bromwhich Albion.

HP sauce

lmao every time Newcastle look like they're starting to go about things in the right way they fuck it up.

And oh yeah, apparently the latest wikileaks cable is saying part of  the reason  Burma were so slow to respond to the devastation of cyclone Nargis is that the head of their military junta was seriously considering making a $1bn bid on Manchester United?!

Yesterday there was show called "2010! Menschen, Bilder, Emotionen" on TV and Philipp Lahm, Manuel Neuer and Lukas Podolski visited.
Thomas Müller first was said to come too, but he couldn't so they had him on a screen to talk to him.

There is no video on Youtube yet, if someone finds one please feel free to post it in a comment and I will add it to this post.

Shitloads of screen-caps ahead, though.
Also a short glimpse of Claudia Lahm, who was in the audience and got a bouquet of flowers for being her pretty lovely awesome self, aww.

In our lives we've seen many amazing goal celebrations. Mostly of our teams, but sometimes other celebrations were too weird or funny or touching for us not to notice them.
So what is your favourite?
Maybe when a fotballer draws heart in the air or kisses the cam?
Maybe when he starts funny dancing or pretends he shots from a gun?
Or maybe you love just when all teams jumps on him and they lie on pitch on each other?
Have your say ;)

This celebration deserves some appreciation for fantasy

Another Mannschaft post? This soon? Yes, sorry about that. I would have liked to edit the other one with this, but then the size would have gotten out of hands, so I make a new post. Read if you support and skip (and sorry for that) if you don't care. There's a bit of Özil, so maybe also check if you like Real Madrid.

It seems not only Lahm, Neuer, Podolski and Müller were on TV, but also Friedrich, Jansen and Özil.
Mesut on a screen as well, just like Thomas, haha.

DFB has made an online advent calender, where each day you can open a door and can watch a video with one person of the DFB team. It also has many player's greetings in it.
I translated the first six days of that calendar. It's not as if it's important what they say, but the awkwardness itself might be worth it.

 Martin Jol leaves Ajax

AMSTERDAM (AP) — Ajax says Martin Jol has quit as coach of the struggling Dutch powerhouse.

Ajax announced late Monday that the 54-year-old Jol agreed with the club to immediately terminate his contract.

Former Netherlands defender Frank de Boer will take over leadership of the team's technical staff immediately and stay at least until the Dutch Eredivisie's winter break starts later this month, Ajax said in a statement.

Ajax slipped to fourth in the league after drawing 1-1 on Saturday with NEC Nijmegen. The four-time European champion also has been knocked out of the Champions League.
