Aston Villa 0-2 Liverpool. Borini scored a goal. A bit of a glory hog, NGL and I have issues that are too long for this post, but a win is a win

Moreno really wants to be another Bale. You know what boo, that's okay. But I wish you'd position more. Can, I am in raptures over Can. Coutinho was doing the business, and Migs had his best game for a while. He's getting his swagger back

Seriously, Migs was bossing his line, giving people what for

Yellow cards for all of you, celebrating with fans! It was a good match, in that LFC looked as if they were playing as a team and that the players liked each other. Moving on!
Tottenham Spurs 2- Sunderland 1

To be a Spurs fan means that you have to invest in a defibrillator. No such thing as an easy three points. Nope, you agonise over the 90 mins, and then Erikson saves you with a win

Lloris is class, made important saves at the end of the match

Vertonghen scored twice- but the last goal was disallowed for being offside

They called this offside

The face of an aggrieved man
Swansea 0 -5 Chelsea

Oscar drew first blood in the first 80 seconds of the game

Diego Costa, henceforth known as Fred Flintstone, got in on the action

A proper mauling, even Schlurre got a look in

I really like Chelsea's kit this season!
Newcastle 1- Southampton 2

Ejero Elia is a new addition to the Saints. Off field his antics are similar to Balotelli's on field, his form is sublime. Notched two goals in

Elia and Koeman- Elia made his maiden debut in the PL yesterday and ohhh, what a debut. Clinical finishing, killer instinct. Crisp moves. I'm impressed

Impressed enough not to through shade at that ratty perm he's rocking on top of his head

Southampton is higher placed than the players who left them (Lovern, Lallana, Lambert) and the manager (Pochettino). They also make their own kit

This is their third kit. Their home kit - red and white stripes, second kit a deep blue with yellow highlights and this their third. All their kits are pretty handsome

Top four, champions league, here they come!
QPR 0 -2 Manchester United

Before I launch into the match, get a load of this

I didn't watch the match, but my timeline was livid.

They won, but people weren't convinced?

Heard that Falcao missed? He can do at times, but he tends to give ace assists

Falcao and Valdes. I wonder if Rooney is learning Spanish

Looking like one of those prompt pictures on tumblr. "Write 1000 words or more on this picture then submit link to X!"
Leciester City 0- 1 Stoke

Stoke won - Bojan scored the only goal in the match

The game seemed to be relatively even, I hear

Bojan has scored 4 goals for Stoke this season. Yeah yeah, but the real question is--- has he found a violin teacher as yet?
Burnley FC 2- 3 Crystal Palace

I follow Burnley, because they are a small Northern team, with solid English players and I appreciate their manager, Dyche

Ings has scored seven goal for Burnley FC this season. All right, now

Dwight Gale on it for Crystal Palace!
Other Leagues

The Bundesliga season doesn't start until the end of January. So the teams are having friendlies to get themselves back into the swing of things. Tin Tin's first sighting on the field was yesterday

Dortmund's yellow and black have grown on me, probably because I'm a Hufflepuff in nature, tbh

I don't know how the game went, forgive? I was trying to follow LFC and Spurs at the same time

Rues got stuck in, as they say

Someone on this comm is into Drum, so here

Bayern Munich was supposedly out and about yesterday. Pictures are at a premium. I laugh and side eye

The ones I find are all Gotze, and uhhh no
Atletico Madrid: Training Day

One of the upsides of Torres going back to Atletico Madrid, is the fact that you can get more pictures of the players on a whole now.

Mandz and Torres might play together tonight, pass it on!

Ah yes, where was I? The good thing about Torres coming back is that you're getting more pictures of everyone? Remember last year how I struggled to get pictures of Atletico Madrid, to the point of having to recycle the old ones?

Not anymore! Because Torres is a person of interest

I can wallpaper my room with them now- if I believed in wallpaper
OP: Thank you for reading! Although it's light on news and heavy on pictures. The usual applies- any broken links, corrections, interesting articles etc please leave at the end of the post and I will amend in due course! I'm going on a hike now, and I can't tarry. Oh, Spanish speakers, please explain the term remontada to me? I think I'm missing something. Sorry for the lack of tags. Can't see them from my laptop! Will do later! Or if someone can tag them for me, I'd be grateful!

Date: 2015-01-18 10:17 am (UTC)Manu's calves look so thin in that pic!
So Torres moving to Atletico is a good thing in more ways than one!
I also think Liverpool should let go of Gerrard. Part of the reason that there is no one to take over his role is because no one was ever allowed to fill his footsteps.
I wonder how happy Sneiderlin is now after Southampton didn't want to let him go in the summer. I hope they can keep up with this as long as possible.
Van Gaal is a curious case and I've been thinking about his time at Bayern and if I remember correctly he was almost out of the job several times before they actually fired him. Bayern didn't even play all that well under him except for about half a season in 2010 where they almost ended up with the treble. Robben was a brilliant transfer and he brought Müller into the team but it was hardly the good news show that Bayern is right now. So I wonder if he manages to go on another path with United or if he will end up like with Bayern.
Also in Belgium, Zulte Waregem honoured their former player, Junior Malanda, they sang for him too.

Date: 2015-01-18 10:25 am (UTC)damn! almost winning the treble is considered not playing that well for you guys? i wonder how that feels... (speaking as a bvb fan. lol)
IA! IA!
Date: 2015-01-18 10:26 am (UTC)Right? But LvG set up protocols that Bayern Munich still use, so... it's not that he was a shit coach either. :P

Date: 2015-01-18 10:39 am (UTC)Bayern were 3rd at the winter break of 09/10, survived the group stages of the CL by a few miracles and made the final because of Robben and his heroics against United.
At the winter break of 10/11, Bayern was 14 points adrift of Bvb at the top. That's bigger than the difference between Bvb (relegation spot) and Leverkusen (3rd) right now. For the Bayern bosses, that's a disaster.
But it's just to say that while Van Gaal is a proven manager, life isn't always great under him.
Yeahhhh
Date: 2015-01-18 10:25 am (UTC)Yeah, I have a feeling once Gerrard and company settle in California with the weather, ability to move around, etc, that matter will be quietly dropped, tbh. The game play without Gerrard is getting smoother, although the lads try to be a bit too clever, but they're getting over that too. More killer instinct, less kitten instinct!
For van Gaal, it's widely accepted that he implements good systems, Bayern still use his techniques, same for Barcelona, et al. LvG is there to steady the ship, to institute protocols until United can find a manager that they want to do a Sir Alex in terms of living with the position.
Sneiderlin must be beaming, tbh. I think he got sat down and told that he'd be the one they'd build the team around. But the consensus is that Southampton might not be able to hold on to him come next season. It's not just position on the table, but the team profile as well? But if they get to Champions League action, I'm sure Sneiderlin will stay for a while. I just wish the Dutch coaches would stop whinging about England though - didn't they know what the job entailed before signing the dotted line?
RE: Yeahhhh
Date: 2015-01-18 10:43 am (UTC)I don't think they will struggle to hold onto their players if they make it there. The problem will be bigger if they narrowly miss out. But for now, I think it's best if they just enjoy the moment and keep focussed on winning matches.

Date: 2015-01-18 10:45 am (UTC)Van Gaal's antics at the club are interesting. I think he'll do well, but not yet this year. I expected him to do better, tbh. I read an article about his favourite word these days to excuse the lack of results is "philosophy" (http://www.goal.com/en/news/1717/editorial/2015/01/15/7980022/van-gaals-manchester-united-philosophy-is-a-great-mystery), lol.
Speaking of ManUtd, I just saw some transfer rumours of how ManUtd is ready to exchange De Gea (who is still stalling with the contract renewal) for Bale (and pay additional £50 million) ... that deal sounds stupid for all the parts involved, ugh. Why, De Gea, why? *sigh*
I like the colour combination of Southampton's kit, but what is with that underpit design???
Do you have a sentence with that word? Because it can have different meanings, like reassembled (if it's an adjective) or recovery (a noun - as in a recovery after a failure/problem).
Hmm, thanks
Date: 2015-01-18 05:08 pm (UTC)So is it come back in this sense?
With DeGea - with the Spaniards, when they come to England, they all want to go back home eventually, especially if one of the big two teams come sniffing around. Also, his girlfriend doesn't like England much. It's an open secret that she wants him to come back to Spain.
I can't laugh at LvG and the whole philosophy thing, because LvG did say that his team was unbalanced, and did come into the season late (so he couldn't buy or pretrain as much as he wanted to). Also the way it is with LvG, he tend to establish new protocols that do stay in place after he leaves. It will be hilarious if Southampton finishes up top four though.
Idek re Southamptons kit and the armpit design myself? I know with their 2 kit, it's all dark blue with the yellow design in the armpit! :D

Date: 2015-01-18 02:44 pm (UTC)yeah, Man U have been riding their luck
Date: 2015-01-18 04:59 pm (UTC)Yeah, they do want to keep DeGea, but rumour has it his girlfriend doesn't like the UK and wants him back in Spain - and the Spanish players tend to find their way back home eventually, especially if one of the big two come sniffing around.
Marco's back YAY
Date: 2015-01-18 05:15 pm (UTC)I missed all PL games yesterday unfortunately, but please, can the media STFU about Gerrard coming back to Liverpool on loan?! He hasn't even bloody left yet! I hope he doesn't return to playing at Liverpool, or the next few months of crying is just gonna be wasted. It would be so much better for him to leave and play in MLS without being loaned out. Liverpool need to let go.
Re: Marco's back YAY
Date: 2015-01-18 05:21 pm (UTC)The media like a narrative, tbh. It be like that sometimes. I can't see Gerrard coming back to the PL once he gets accustomed to the MLS.
Dortmund sounds... depressing. I can't say much about LFC, but we're looking a bit better - in that the lads seem to like each other, but there are a lot of things to SMH at.
RE: Re: Marco's back YAY
Date: 2015-01-18 06:31 pm (UTC)Yeah, Dortmund still have a long way to go. The problem is, our team gets on so well, but on the pitch you wouldn't know. It's a bit shambolic still but there are some tiny glimmers of hope. We create so many chances, it's just the finishing which needs tightening up massively.
Re: Re: Marco's back YAY
Date: 2015-01-18 06:49 pm (UTC)Dortmund - hey, did you read the interview Reus did? He said that he's committed to finishing out his contract and making sure that Dortmund gets to a good place and that's his focus. Say it after me, aawwwww!
Fingers crossed for Dortmund. LFC is looking better, but maaannnn, sometimes with football you have to play through a bad slump and hope you break through on the other side. Rather like Roberto Saldado for the Spurs right now. SMH.
