  • When Chuck Norris is on the field there is no fair play, only Chuck Norris play.
  • David Beckham changes his hair style so often in order not to be recognized by Chuck Norris.
  • Sean Wright Phillips runs so fast because he is hunted by Chuck Norris' ghost.
  • If Chuck Norris would play football, Champions League would be called Chuck Norris and loosers League.
  • Chuck Norris' team never draws, nobody is equal to Chuck Norris.
  • Chuck Norris doesn't need a break between the halfs, the game needs a break from Chuck Norris.

Apparently Rohan Ricketts has a new gig writing a "Diary of a Pro Footballer" blog. That would be this guy if you're like me and had no idea.

In the wake of the Wayne Rooney sex allegation scandal, many of you will be mystified as to why a young man who’s at the top of his trade and who seems to have a happy relationship with his childhood sweetheart could allow himself to ruin it all by purchasing sex from a high class prostitute. Well, I’m sorry to say that it’s not that simple when you are a professional footballer.

Roy Hodgson today spoke of his relief after Fernando Torres flew back to Merseyside having enjoyed a night off for Spain in Argentina.

Despite accepting Spain's decision to include the Liverpool striker in their travelling squad for the glamour friendly in Buenos Aires, Hodgson was hoping Torres would do no more than warm the bench after netting twice for his country on Friday in Liechtenstein.

The Liverpool manager's hopes were realised as Torres remained an unused substitute throughout his country's 4-1 defeat, and he's now looking forward to including his number nine in his plans for this weekend's trip to Birmingham.

"We spoke to the Spanish coach and they said it wasn't possible for him to skip the trip," said Hodgson. "If he'd done that then a lot of other big name players might have wanted to skip it as well.

"Through fairness they felt obliged to take everybody, but luckily they listened to my plea not to overplay him and the fact he played no part in the game hopefully means he will come back in good shape and be able to work with us instead."

Despite not having regained full match fitness since overcoming the injury he sustained in the World Cup final, Torres has already netted the winner in the Reds' last outing against West Brom and bagged a brace for Spain on Friday night.

"It's a good sign," admitted Hodgson. "He's a goalscorer and a quality player. If we're going to have a good season we need people like him. He'll need more time before he fully recovers from the injury, but he is working very hard, he has a very good relationship with our sports science people and I trust them together to make the right decisions."

Tevez: "I don't think I'll make it to Brazil 2014."

Carlos Tevez, one of the best players in Argentina's 4-1 against Spain, said he could stop playing for the Albiceleste because he feels his resistance is slowly wearing off.

He said he doubted his participation in the next World Cup in 2014, to which he'd arrive with 2 World Cups already played (2006 and 2010).

"I'm tired. I'm 26 years old, I'm old," he pointed out after the victory on Tuesday against Spain, in which he scored a goal and made the assistances for Higuaín's and Messi's goals.

"I still feel like playing, of being there. But I don't know if I'll make it to 2014. I don't know, in fact, it's pretty hard I will," said Tevez, known as el jugador del pueblo for being the Argentines' favorite, for now even over Messi.

Tevez said that each game he feels the impacts with more intensity and that he considers his resistance is wearing off. "When you play for your NT you have to be alright, at a 100%. And leave everything on the field. I don't blame anyone, it's just something about me, a physical thing. I can't play for the NT at a 60%... if it's like that, I'd much rather step aside and leave the place for someone who's better. That's my way of seeing things."

Also, Batista was confirmed as coach until December, and then they'll make the final decision if he stays or someone replaces him.

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (AP) -- Interim Argentina coach Sergio Batista will keep the job until the end of the year, a reward for Tuesday's 4-1 victory over World Cup champion Spain.
Batista replaced Diego Maradona and opened with a 1-0 win over Ireland last month. He will remain foe an exhibition against Japan and two against Brazil.
Luis Segura, a high-ranking member of the Argentine Football Association, confirmed after Tuesday's victory that Batista will stay on in the job. He said other candidates will be evaluated at year's end.
Others thought to be in the running are Alejandro Sabella of Estudiantes, Miguel Angel Russo of Racing Club and Carlos Bianchi, who is without a club.

Germany cruised to a comfortable 6-1 win against Azerbaijan on Tuesday evening and Miroslav Klose and Lukas Podolski were two of the Nationalelf's key performers. Klose was full of praise for the Koeln star after the match and added that it was an easy game for himself.

-Cesc/Barca wank bait posts will be deleted

-Tag and source your posts!

-Try to be reasonable about sparkle text. It's not banned but does it need to be 72 px?

-Hopefully this comes across intelligibly but there seems to be a cycle that starts with wanky posts where everyone is butthurt ----> "omg everything is so srs now, here's something silly~~". Like, ok? sry2say reacting to wanky posts with something frivolous isn't really the way to lighten the mood, imo. Perhaps you should consider not letting wanky posts get so out of hand in the first place. Obviously the mods aren't the comment police (unless it's really racist/homophobic/wildly annoying) but if a post comes up about the Trolls FC player cheating on his wife with someone else, and a good part of the comments are "that dumb whore~~" and the reactions to that, well, that has an effect on the tenor of the community that "let's spam with old pictures of the same dudes" posts won't change very much. Ultimately the people in change of the mood of the comm are you, and you're able to affect that by the titles you use and what you say at the end of a post (as small as it seems) to the comments you choose to leave.

-Somewhat connected: there are many different types of people in this community. I would think this was obvious by now, but really, if you're going to post something like "this is how it is in Germany/England/the United States/Mars, etc.", expect people from Germany/England/the United States/Mars, etc. to comment saying "lol not quite" (perhaps in not such a nice way). Generalize at your own peril.

And everyone wish [livejournal.com profile] c0rrine a happy birthday!!!!! Or else I will eat your grandchildren!!!

Houllier takes Villa reins

Aston Villa have confirmed the appointment of experienced French tactician Gerard Houllier as their new manager.

The club have been without a permanent boss since Martin O'Neill surprisingly resigned last month, with Kevin MacDonald taking over on a temporary basis.

MacDonald was one of several names to be linked with the full-time role, along with the likes of Sven Goran Eriksson, Bob Bradley and David Moyes.

Houllier later emerged as the leading contender as Villa stepped up their search, and they have now secured the 63-year-old's services after he was freed from his role with the French Football Federation.

Having worked as National Coaching Director with the FFF since 2007, it has come as something of surprise to see Houllier return to management.

Houllier nevertheless has a wealth of experience in the dugout and worked in England with Liverpool between 1998 and 2004.

There had been speculation that Houllier would try to bring Phil Thompson with him to Villa as assistant manager, but his former No.2 at Anfield turned down the offer.

Houllier has also spent time at the helm of France, Paris St Germain and Lyon, and is now looking forward to his latest challenge at Villa Park.
