Gah, there was a confession on this tumblr about footballers from other countries representing countries from another flag, but a lot of people found it xenophobic and the mods deleted it after a lot of pushback that tumblr peeps do. Which is a pity, because the conversations generated from the confession were interesting. Especially for me as a Brit, and the fluidity re: nationality around our cricket and rugby teams and capping people beyond our physical shores to include members of The Commonwealth, plus the special arrangement between home countries in terms of football teams in the home countries (which... I'm not getting into) and the heated debates about who is what. I should have screen capped the confession. *snaps fingers* Next time
Anyway, German readers, tell me, is this site legit ? I'm thinking of pulling the trigger and getting some tickets, but I'm doing a Reagan in terms of trust, then verify.

If you say that you're an English speaker and that language is your L1, you'll have to beat people off with a stick. Itaki has language services with one to one tutors that they do try to (gently) persuade you to do. For Spanish its advantageous because I've done tutorial work for something like €10 an hour (compared to €45 over here), because you have a lot of South American tutors in South America and the exchange rate is relatively advantageous.
Right, apps.
Hello talk is a pretty active and dynamic app. I think it's one of the best ones, tbh. You can speak to people, you can correct grammar via the app, you can leave recordings so they can correct you etc.
Lang 8 I use for writing Spanish and getting laughter as feedback. LOL.
In terms of paid services, I've tried BliuBliu, where you have a language challenge for thirty days, but I gotta say, I can't recommend that one to a beginner (I was doing beginner's [redacted]) and I think I came to it too early. Like, I needed to get some basic grammar and conjugations under my belt (because they don't believe in grammar). I wouldn't recommend the site to anyone at A1. Just A2 and up. The best part was the hang out chat rooms, and my chat host was really lovely.
