Just the travel alone flying match to match (and they can't get charter flights, iirc) would break him down.

England 2- 0 Malta

I have a LOT of things to say (drove down to this match) but I'm tired and I have a LONG day ahead of me today, so let me save my energy. Tl;dr - Rooney really needs to be dropped from the starting XI

Hendo bossed that. I was impressed by his industry and recycling the ball in field. Respect. Right, moving on, need to make this quick- oh nvm - people went hiking without me.

Thrifting is the way to go

Joe Hart wasn't under pressure, but even with that, he kept his kicks short, and kept it cute. I think his time away is doing him a world of good

Cahill - I can see why he's going to be moved on from Chelsea. John Stones looked so much more composed, tbh

The Malta keeper was MOTM for me. England had shots at goal, and a lesser skilled keeper would have let in more

I like Jesse Lingard. Someone was confusing Lingard with Dele and when I pointed it out to him, he was like, "Well you know, all mixed race kids look alike."

Betrand hobbled off and got replaced by Danny Rose.
Germany 3- 0 Czech Republic

I heard Özil and Müller did well (are those names even spelt correctly? My pc and their options for accents on letters KILL ME)

Nice photo

Kimmich!

The pictures for this match are so NICE! I think it's the stark colours of the kit (black and white with stripes)

Very clear photos!

And dynamic poses! So amazing!

But there's never an excuse for posting a Götze picture though. So have a Hummels instead.
Northern Ireland 4- 0 San Marino

Lafferty rocked up in the second half of the second half and scored a brace. No biggie.

I mean, it's San Marino, but NI had more of a style and swashbuckling style than England, tbh

What in fresh hell is this kit though?
Scotland 1- 1 Lithuania

Scotland was SHOCKING!

I wish they'd kept their all blue kit. This kit isn't so great. Oh, Scotland scored in the dying minutes of the game for a set piece, so they got a share of the spoils. I listened to this match on the way back from London, because my SO was like, "How is Scotland doing? I want them to be at the World Cup too!" With the 48 match expansion being mooted, you might get your wish, mate
OP: done! Sorry, I couldn't find any other pictures of other matches. If I do, I'll include them in tomorrow's post. Going back to bed! Wait! A question before I go- I need the mattest, inkiest black eyeliner known to man. Recommend me one? Thanks!

Date: 2016-10-09 02:21 pm (UTC)It was for fun, and to gee up the crowd a bit. It was kinda cheesy, but when kids are laughing and enjoying themselves, it can't be all that bad, can it?
RE: I was at the game yesterday
Date: 2016-10-09 02:33 pm (UTC)The dab cam felt like forced indulging in a fad which has already passed. The general dance cam was much less embarrassing (though I still wouldn't do it if it came on me 😅).
It was nice to have some entertainment with the little penalty competition during HT, I think everybody was rooting for the woman
Re: RE: I was at the game yesterday
Date: 2016-10-09 02:42 pm (UTC)I missed that at half time, I was out buying a hot dog! :D
Yeah, the stadium was warmer than I thought, but London was just mild, tbh. By the time I got up North, it was FREEZING!
Actually, it's still freezing. I'm in my flannel PJs with house socks on.
I might rock up for England vs Scotland, but England need to play better than they did yesterday though. Sold out stadium and buses coming from as far as Newcastle! Southgate and co need to fix up.
RE: Re: RE: I was at the game yesterday
Date: 2016-10-09 02:51 pm (UTC)Was the food cheap/decent? I was going to go have a look but my brother was being childish so I didn't go. Last time I went I had a burger from outside that was ridiculously expensive, but IDK about the food/drink inside
Last time I went for England v NED it was freezing and pouring with rain so I made sure to wrap up warm this time. It is actually quite warm here in the South West but grey clouds are looming...
I had already promised my brother to see England v Spain (he loves Ramos and De Gea) and have had tickets for that for a few weeks now, but I just bought England v Scotland tickets this morning. Not as great seats as I usually get but equally expensive :(
Rooney and Cahill seemed quite aggressive yesterday, a stricter ref would not have let them get away with so much
Re: Re: RE: I was at the game yesterday
Date: 2016-10-09 03:03 pm (UTC)What's annoying though, is that you don't really see the game on the screens as it goes on, only the replays? (unlike say, at PL stadia).
The food was London priced, I think. £4.50 for a hotdog, but it was one of those adequately sized German bratwurst sausages with loads of relish. Fish and chips are £7.50, and drinks something like £4.00. You're allowed to carry some food in, as long as it's prepackaged but NO WATER or liquid.
For instance, yesterday, I rocked up with grapes, satsumas and crisps in my bag. If you're not adverse to walking around the localities of Wembley like Ealing road for curry (beyond the Wembley discount shops) there are kebab shops as well as shops selling indian food, and a fair bit of pizza places.
Yeah, that ref yesterday was... interesting. Rooney should have gotten booked, tbh.
I'm still thinking about Scotland, tbh. It's just the drive down and the return drive that's making me pause a bit. I'd probably drive down, pay for a parking space, sleep over and then drive back the next day.
RE: Re: Re: RE: I was at the game yesterday
Date: 2016-10-09 03:11 pm (UTC)That doesn't seem too badly priced for a stadium. I'll have to bring some cashews next time though (if I had known we could bring bags I would've brought an entire buffet)
The ref was very low key. I didn't even realise the Maltese guy got a yellow until I saw it on the screen.
Is there a decent coach from where you live? National Express go from my city centre and then park directly outside the stadium. I'm too poor a student to drive and get a hotel!
well, it depends on the size of the bag!
Date: 2016-10-09 03:18 pm (UTC)Not the complicated North Face bags with tons of pockets that the Americans like to rock with. But just a simple bag that when they opened it, it was just one zipper and seeing everything at one glance. As long as you don't take the piss (prepackaged snack food they seem to be okay with but no liquids), you should be fine.
We do have National Express, but by the time I added up the cost of a return ticket for an adult, it cost the same as filling up the tank in my car plus a sandwich. Honestly, the government should nationalise the trains instead of the push for Hard Brexit, return to Grammar schools and increasing uni fees, for real.
RE: well, it depends on the size of the bag!
Date: 2016-10-09 03:30 pm (UTC)Ouch, that's rough! My return ticket from Bristol to Wembley was about £35 which is still a third of the price it would take to get the train in, and even then i'd still have to pay to navigate London public transport. Trains in this country are a real joke. During the summer I got a train from Nice to Stockholm that was cheaper than the train from Bristol to see my brother in Lancashire. But funnily enough, one of the old UK punchlines was that it was the EU who were stopping us from renationalising our services (factually incorrect). But I don't trust either the EU or the Tories with the NHS...
But technically we subsidise the trains anyway?
Date: 2016-10-09 03:37 pm (UTC)It's a disgrace how train prices go up every year and their excuse is, "To improve services" and I've been on trains where I can't even get a seat. I hear you re: train prices on the continent. I remember buying tickets for my mum and myself for Rome to Naples and Rome to Florence, and it was cheaper than from Mansfield to Sheffield for one person over here. Ridic!.
Too bad though, because train travel is far faster and more pleasant than bus or driving.
But to focus on well... not necessarily more pleasant things when it comes to the England NT at the moment - I'm trying to see as much English games as I can in the run up to WC 2018, because I honestly can't see myself suiting up to go to Russia.
RE: But technically we subsidise the trains anyway?
Date: 2016-10-09 03:46 pm (UTC)I quite like coaches! Train journeys are stressful and value for money just isn't worth it
I'd like to go to the WC. I'll probably be doing my post-grad (or will just be graduating) by then so probably couldn't afford it though. Each time I go to a game here I want to go and see them more often. I'll have better luck for Euro 2020
Yes!
Date: 2016-10-09 03:55 pm (UTC)Yes! It's interesting that Obsorne only started to make noises about the North after he got kicked out of government by May, to the point where he had the front to be running for some political job in the North (I want to say Mayor of Manchester?). David Cameron couldn't even look beyond his mirror to see what was going on in the country. Himself and Boris Johnson are soulmates, tbh.
I do remember expressing concern that people in teh remain camp were too London centric and complacent re: Brexit and remain. When the vote came in, all my friends in London were shocked and I was like, "Well, if people looked beyond the M25 periodically, that would be nice."
Yeah, I think (I hope) I'll be better prepared for Euro 2020- although having the matches in thirteen different countries is a nonsense, but w/e. People in UEFA think that everyone has access to private planes to go hither and yon. Just to go to Marseilles, I had to drive an hour to an airport and take two planes - only to watch England lose to Russia and get caught up in the kerfuffle. Madness.
RE: Yes!
Date: 2016-10-09 04:13 pm (UTC)The whole referendum was a shitshow, but the government/Remain handled it spectacularly awfully. I could complain about that for hours. I don't think many people really care outside London about London losing passporting rights (etc) and would probably welcome London taking a hit on the chance it might boost regional economies. But alas, London will always be an entity in itself (which is why it is the only devolved part of England)!
Cardiff should have got chosen over Baku for 2020. It is ridiculous that Baku is such an outlier. Nonetheless, I have a gut feeling that Wembley hosting the final will basically mean England won't host either Euros or the WC anytime soon.
tbh

Quite! That being said, I do know a lot of British retirees in Spain and Portugal who are hopping mad over the result (most of them Tories, and they are pretty mad at the party right now). But a fair amount of businesses are set to migrate once we Brexit. I think German cities like Frankfurt are trying to attract the businesses to where they are. But May doesn't have much care for The City at all, so I watch this with interest (and a lottery ticket, tbh).

Same. Saaaammmmee.
RE: tbh
Date: 2016-10-09 04:36 pm (UTC)An English WC would be great, but I doubt I'll see it in my lifetime (or at least until I'm old) which is a pity. :( Maybe I'll move to Germany who seem to host every 5 minutes
yeah, the UK is badly managed
Date: 2016-10-09 05:12 pm (UTC)Scotland will sadly likely be gone within my lifetime
Them and Northern Ireland, if May is hellbent on Brexit. In addition, she's painting them as being in opposition to her form of nationalism or something, which isn't really helping.

Date: 2016-10-09 05:24 pm (UTC)So ... an Italian for England? Seriously???
LOL, we're looking at a German as well
Date: 2016-10-09 05:44 pm (UTC)Long story short, the older coaches are well, too old, and the younger coaches are too young. Then the much wanted/coveted coaches are enjoying the day to day grind club football too much to step away (Simeone has spoken about this recently; he loves club football too much to devote himself entirely to Argentina and wondered why he couldn't do both)
But the job is Southgate's to lose, tbh.
