Date: 2016-07-20 07:00 pm (UTC)I would LOVE seeing him at Arsenal, and, really, with Arsenal's current transfer window so far being less than stellar, and with Arsenal in dire need of a(nother) striker, Wenger really should see this as a godsend and snap him up asap. Gomez was having a good Euro before his injury ... but ... still got doubts ... He can suffer from low self-esteem and the PL is a whole other kettle of fish and if he doesn't hit the ground running the critics will tear him to bits. I don't want that for any of my German baes :(
Though him and Dumb Baguette would make a fucking GORGEOUS strike pair!

Date: 2016-07-20 07:02 pm (UTC)I remember when he kept West Ham in the PL, and the supporters didn't like his football (defensive, dragging out 1-0 wins, or 0-0 draws), and when the West Ham owners said that he needed to get fluid football, he brought in a coach to help with the forwards (Teddy Sheringham, iirc).
In addition, I've seen how DeAndre Yedlin improved under him (American defender from Seattle Sounders who couldn't defend, but Big Sam sorted him out).
On top of all that, it's an open secret that Allardyce wanted the job since 2006. I'd hope that the FA would give him what he needs, and then get the heck out of his way, but the FA is a really odd organisation, tbh. They are resistant to change, and seem short sighted on taking the game forward. But that's another rant for another time, tbh.
