Pictures
Sunderland 0- 1 Liverpool

After a stalemate in the first half, Benteke scores seconds into the second half, and suddenly turned into a tree of limbs

Seriously, I blinked and missed it

I won't lie, everything has improved under Klopp. Everything and everyone. I still think the team is unbalanced and at times lurches like Frankenstein, but Klopp is wisely waiting it out, shifting through what he's got.

Klopp was livid last night because a Sunderland player heavily tackled Sakko, and the police/stewards made sure things were nice

Well, he had a right to be mad

La Liga
Barcelona 4- 0 Real Betis

Pictures of barca games tend to be infuriating, in that it's less match pictures, more celebrating, so... Messi made his 500th appearance for the club. Less player more icon

Betis goalie collided with Messi so Messi got a penalty, and it was the beginning of the end

Real Madrid 3- 1 Real Sociedad

Real Madrid won, Ronaldo missed a penalty and the Real Sociedad's president threatened to call the police on the referee. Ain't life grand?

Just posting this picture here to share gossip: Ronaldo is allegedly arranging a sibling for his son. He also bought a private jet.

Rayo 0- 2 Atletico Madrid

Atletico Madrid scored in the dying light of the game, and saw them go to the top in La Liga

Tell me, is Jackson Martinez settled, or nah? I keep hearing rumours that he's unsettled, but that can't be, surely?

In the 88th minute, this guy scored! Then it was all over from there!

Guess who?

This winger is sly as a fox

He's can't help it that he's gorgeous (his words for a Paddy Power ad)

Not a one trick pony

Age ain't nuthin' but a number with this lad

One of Watford's two strikers
Other pictures can be found at the brilliant minimalist footie

Social media

Did El Cholo get a hair transplant? His hair looks thick and two- when has he started writing/speaking in English?

Year in review: pictures I liked, anyways

Fernando Torres' return to Atletico de Madrid was emotional.

Diego Simeone was supposedly behind the decision, and the board moved on it, because according to the President, "Simeone doesn't ask for much."

In the same month, Gerrard announced that he was leaving Liverpool, and the six month wake began

I don't have much truck with Chelsea, but Didier - I always have time for King Didier. After a successful return to Chelsea where he got two honours, he then went to Montreal Impact - and made an impact! Word has it that he's returning to Chelsea to help settle the dressing room and begin to get his coaching badges

Mario Balotelli wasn't long at LFC, but he got a reasonable send off.

Klopp leaves Dortmund. An era ended, but props to him, taking his team from relegation to Europa places

Good bye, Kloppo! And off he went on vacation and getting tanned and enjoying good food

Only for Klopp to show up...

Still can't believe it!

Steven Gerrard and Jose Mourinho left the PL in the same year, but not in the same season

After the terrorist attacks on Paris, the FA thought that their French counterparts wouldn't want to have the friendly. The French FA said otherwise, so England brought the ceremony

People at Wembly

OP: done! Cheers, jeers, corrections and commentary pushback, you know the drill! I'm sure I've missed loads of seminal pictures this year, put some in the post if you wish to share! Can someone do the tags for me, please? I have some business to attend to before the New Year!

Happy New Year's Eve, everyone!

Didn't watch, but Vito made a top, top qualitee save against Firmino yesterday: https://streamable.com/ijoa (https://streamable.com/ijoa). The consensus on r/soccer is that he kept the scoreline 1-0? :')

I made the mistake of going through Roman Neustädter's (Schalke player) Instagram and now I'm half in love with the guy despite the overwhelming tackiness. Can't hate anyone who posts this:

And my personal favorite from the derby this year:

The best thing about the Batman/Robin thing was the extremely drawn-out setup, collecting and untangling the things, putting them on... the two of them though, as if they were twins separated at birth.

Haha, and your first one... so far I'd only seen video of it, and not great quality. His face!

Arsenal posted their favourite photos from the year earlier too, here. It's interesting, with information on how the photographers work. And I love the description of Cech's photo, how the focus "brings out his eyes".

And someone at the telegraph did a top 20 ranking (yes, rankings are pointless) of the Premier League defenders, and the whole Arsenal backline is in there, with a well-deserved and non-flashy winner.

It would be a travesty if Petr's blue eyes didn't stand out in every picture. This is a great photo:

Went through the list and I'm shocked. That writing up about the BFG does not fit into the usual "Mertesacker is slow, can't defend for shit, didn't even play most of the matches in the World Cup" narrative. Actually, having our entire backline in there doesn't fit into the usual "Arsenal suck defensively" narrative. Nice to see guys like Cresswell, Jagielka and Leighton Baines in there, in addition to Dave and Mike Smalling.

Interesting, I don't think they have police sorting out the coaches in German matches. Klopp might need it though. I wonder how long it takes for him to get sent off, and perhaps he might be the first to find out if you can actually get arrested out of the coaching zone.

Ah, in Germany they do of course do the third thing, and they're also involved with safety around the stadium, which in the case of, say, Dortmund - Schalke is a major operation. I don't think they're involved with the actual match action though.

Oh, and here the state pays for it, which is an issue of some conflict. Problematic matches can cost huge sums, and there are calls to make the league pay for it.

Yes, I saw something about the supposed plan for a Ronaldo child. Weird, to say the least. And of course he bought a jet. Why not? Surely a yacht will follow, if he doesn't already have one.

Beautiful photo recap of the year, OP. <3 That photo of Per missing the sitter... :D:D

Re: Jackson. Eh. He looked rusty yesterday (which is easily forgiven considering he's been out injured), but did really well for Griezmann's goal. Overall, he hasn't exactly set La Liga alight, but neither has Torres, but he gets more leeway because, y'know, he's Torres. I like Jackson, he's a good presence up front, but I don't think the way we're playing this season is helping him. If we played narrow like we used to a couple of seasons ago, then I think he might have adapted better. Now, the fullbacks don't push forward as much, so less balls are going into the box. He chose to stay in Madrid and put in some extra training over the holiday period, so the commitment is there, and there's not really much more you can ask for.

I'm happy Correa scored. It's been a but stop-start with him this season, but I think 2016 could be a big year for him.

Augusto had his medical this morning. Hopefully his transfer is announced soon.

This is my favourite picture of 2015. 1) it was the game we beat RM 4-0. 2) Casillas' face. 3) Saúl having the audacity to attempt a chilena against RM and succeeding spectacularly.
