Real Mallorca starlet Marco Asensio has confirmed that he is poised to sign for Real Madrid.

The 18-year-old winger is expected to finalise a €3.7 million transfer to the Santiago Bernabeu during the January transfer window, with reports suggesting the Blancos will be loaned back to the Spain Under-19 international back to the Segunda Division side for the remainder of the 2014-15 campaign.

Asensio has now revealed that he has agreed terms on a five-year contract with the reigning European champions.

“We will see what happens this week because in this club anything can happen," the teenager told Cadena SER. "Real Madrid have decided and I am really happy.

“I’m looking forward to seeing the finalisation of the deal in order to make everyone calmer - the club, me and Real Madrid.

“It is an honour that the best clubs are fixed on me, and Real Madrid are the best of the best. The agreement is for five seasons and now it's for me to enjoy."

Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti also confirmed on Monday that Asensio is set to be a presence at the Spanish capital club after the end of the current season.

"Marco Asensio is a very good player," the Italian told reporters. "That's why we are talking with Mallorca to bring him in next summer."

He's 18, a winger and playing in the Segunda. How big is the chance that he will get to play next season?
I almost feel bad for saying it but I sometimes wonder if it's a good thing for young players to move to Madrid.

He'd be better moving to a team where he gets first minutes. You only get better if you play matches - or probably they might buy him and loan him out to somewhere else?

Don't go to Real Madrid if you aren't going to be on a starting XI. They're just like Pokeman up in this ish - gotta get 'em all. Ick.

I'll say here what I've said over at hala...

Oh look! It's yet another player we're buying who's not a defender.

I don't see what we'd need another winger for at this point in time, either. If Perez is so thirsty for yet another forward, I'd prefer a proper striker. I mean, I'll love this boy as I do most of our players, but I don't see this working out for either party? Least of all the player himself. We already know he's not going to get enough minutes, considering whom all he'll need to compete with up front. Then again, maybe this is just me still being pretty frustrated & bitter over the selling of Morata.

I'm not elated but I'm not bummed out either? Idk. Appreciate the fact that he chose us but... there must be a new right-back somewhere out there that we can sign.
