It means ''to celebrate'' in the Bantu language isiZulu.
There are 11 different colors on the ball because:
- There are 11 players on the pitch
- It's the 11th official match ball
- There are 11 different tribes in South Africa with 11 different languages

With only eight thermally bonded panels, which are spherically molded, the ball is perfectly round and more accurate. ''

Date: 2009-12-05 02:58 am (UTC)The Jabulani is a completely new ball, actually, that was 'secretly' (read: unmarked, with fake Teamgeist-sewlines airbrushed to it and nobody wanting to talk about it)pre-tested by several adidas-sponsored Bundesliga sides about half a year ago, HSV among them.
Bild(or local paper morgenpost, not sure) of course bragged about finding out all about it and asked Hamburg goalie Frank Rost and strikers Petric and Berg about what they thought of it.
If I remember it correctly, both Berg and Petric loved the feel and aerodynamics of it while Rost said the same thing Lehmann had already said about Teamgeist 4 years ago: too slick and absolutely unpredictable in the air, a goalkeepers nightmare, solely designed to give the public more exciting goals.
