So, it turns out instilling a near total football blackout after the World Cup in order to salvage what remained of my summer wasn't the best idea. Whereas everyone got to digest the usual drama as it came bit by bit, I got swept away by a tidal wave of ARE YOU SHITTING ME?! So many retirements! So many shocking results! So many transfers! Too much to process on one drizzly Sunday morning. I need a beer ...

Manchester United have reportedly reached an agreement with AS Monaco over the €65 million transfer of Colombian striker, Radamel Falcao.

According to Colombia-based journalist for DirecTV Sports, Saris Bello, Manchester United will bring the Colombian international to Old Trafford for four seasons with a fee of €65 million, becoming their second highest transfer following Di Maria’s €75 million move earlier this week.

Bello goes on to report that Manchester City were unable to compete with Manchester United’s bid due to Financial Fair Play restrictions.

“Falcao to Manchester United for €65 million euros, for 4 seasons. City can’t sign him due to Financial Fair Play.

“In the coming hours, Falcao will officially join Manchester United, after the deal is finalised he’ll travel tomorrow [to Manchester] and later undergo his medical.”

Manchester United is expected to announce the deal in the coming hours, with Falcao flying to Manchester on Monday morning and undergoing his standard medical later that afternoon, where he will then be confirmed and presented as the newest member of Louis Van Gaal’s squad.

However, speculation remains high, as rumours continue to circulate on where Falcao will eventually go, with the consensus being that the 28-year-old will no longer be a Monaco player come Tuesday.

On Saturday, Falcao was held out of Monaco’s 1-1 draw with Lille, where he tweeted that he had completed his “dream move” to Real Madrid, only to delete it and claimed it wasn’t him.

So Manchester United traded Chicharito to Real Madrid in exchange for having a shot at Falcao(?) Cutting it reeeal close to the transfer window end there.
